Osprey Drop First Game of the Series vs. Orem Friday

MISSOULA, MONT - The Missoula Osprey (29-28, 10-9) fell 7-3 to the Orem Owlz (17-40, 5-14) Friday from Ogren Park Allegiance Field to open a three-game series.

Missoula jumped on the board first in the bottom of the first inning when Blaze Alexander hit his second home run of the season to give the Osprey a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the second, Orem tied the game with a run on an RBI single from Connor Fitzsimons and took the lead in the third when they posted three runs.

Kevin Maitan reached on an error to begin the inning while Livan Soto walked. D'Shawn Knowles singled to right to load the bases for the Owlz. Francisco Del Valle notched a sacrifice fly to left to plate Maitan while Johan Sala singled to right and scored two more to push the Orem lead to 4-1 after three.

To lead off the fifth, Knowles singled to right and was followed by a Del Valle single. Sala singled home Knowles to add to the lead and give Orem a 5-1 advantage. Soto recorded a sacrifice fly for the Owlz in the top of the eighth to extend the lead to 6-1 before Missoula posted its next run.

In the home half of the inning, Kristian Robinson was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Zack Shannon drew a walk while Joe Robbins singled home Robinson to cut the lead 6-2.

However, the Owlz plated a run in the ninth when Rayneldy Rosario singled home Sala after he reached on an error. Missoula scored a run in the ninth as well as Robinson grounded into a fielder's choice to score Alexander to pull the final score to 7-3.

Missoula is back in action Saturday vs. Orem at Ogren Park Allegiance Field. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm with the gates opening at 6:30 pm on Timberjacks Night. The Selway Armory Pregame Show begins at 6:45 pm with Mick Holien on ESPN 102.9 FM and the MiLB First Pitch App.
