Osceola Magic Defeat Delaware Blue Coats at Home
March 3, 2024 - NBA G League (G League)
Osceola Magic News Release
The Osceola Magic won their seventh straight game Sunday, defeating the Delaware Blue Coats 114-106 at Osceola Heritage Park.
D.J. Wilson tied a season-high 35 points and added 13 rebounds and seven assists in the victory.
"We're letting the game come to us," Wilson said. "We started off going back and forth, but then we locked in on the defensive end, securing stops that facilitated easy baskets for us. When we play like this, we can truly accomplish anything. Towards the end, some old habits crept in, but growth is about being able to make that change, and we did. The crowd tonight was great; we'll use this momentum to help us on Tuesday."
The teams exchanged 16 lead changes in a tightly contested first half. Osceola secured a 54-49 halftime lead and held Delaware to just 23% shooting from beyond the arc.
The Magic took control of the game with a 13-0 third quarter run. Osceola knocked down a perfect 11-of-11 from the charity stripe and asserted dominance in the paint, outscoring the Blue Coats 68-38 inside. Additionally, the Magic managed to secure 25 points off 18 Delaware turnovers.
Trevelin Queen contributed 19 points for the Magic in the win.
"We're aiming to finish the rest of the season like this," Queen said. "The environment was fantastic tonight. The fans were great, bringing so much energy. Our intention was to come back strong after halftime and dominate the third quarter. We came together as a team, making numerous crucial stops. Our best play comes when we lock them up defensively. There's a strong belief in each other and in our coach."
The Osceola Magic (14-7), NBA G League Affiliate of the Orlando Magic, will host the Maine Celtics, Tuesday, March 5, at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee at 7 p.m. for their Colombian Heritage Night.
