Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

Jhailyn Ortiz homered twice and drove in four runs as the Jersey Shore BlueClaws topped the Hudson Valley Renegades, 8-2, on Friday night.

Ortiz hit his first home run of the night in the second inning, while the Claws added two more on a Herbert Iser single in the fourth to open a 3-0 lead. The Renegades answered in the fifth on an RBI double by Kyle MacDonald and a sacrifice fly from Ezequiel Duran.

Trailing by one in the eighth, the Blue Claws exploded for five in the frame, highlighted by a three-run shot from Ortiz. A double from Iser added two more runs.

Jonathan Hughes picked up the win in relief to improve to 3-3. Hughes pitched the final four innings and struck out five. Reid Anderson started for the Renegades and took the loss (0-1). He went 3.2 innings and allowed three runs.

Friday's game was supposed to be part of a doubleheader but it was decided that the field at FirstEnergy Park could only handle one game due to wet grounds. The scheduled doubleheader has been moved to Saturday beginning at 5:05 p.m.

Per the State of New York, the Renegades are now open at 100% capacity. Tickets continue to be a tremendous value starting as low as $6. Visit HVRenegades.com for ticket information and so much more.

Renegades are hosting an Independence Day Weekend Fireworks Spectacular on July 3rd. We will show the film National Treasure prior to the Fireworks. Visit HVRenegades.com for more info.
