Orlando Solar Bears News Release
Orlando, Fla. - The ECHL's newest member, the Orlando Solar Bears, unveiled their new logos and team colors at center court during the Orlando Magic vs. Chicago Bulls game on Friday night.
The logos, designed by one of the leading sports graphic designers in the United States, Joe Bosack, feature the popular mascot, "Shades," and consist of the historical teal and purple color scheme.
"A focus group made up of youth hockey players and coaches, past Solar Bears season ticket holders and former Solar Bears employees assisted us as we developed the marks that we will unveil tonight; in both the planning stages and with the final presentation," said Jason Siegel, President of Orlando Pro Hockey Operations, LP. "The collective focus was to honor the previous mark and update it for the upcoming season. "Shades,"the team's mascot, is once again the primary focus of the mark wearing his signature sunglasses while positioned in a different pose. He's cool under pressure and confident. We combined the wordmark and the Solar Bears' upper torso together to complete the primary logo. The illustrated "O" for Orlando, in the shape of the Sun, rests comfortably behind "Shades". In our shoulder patch illustration, the "O" for Orlando is more obvious surrounding one of "Shades" paws."
Joe Bosack Graphic Design ( www.joebosack.com ) and its president and founder Joe Bosack, have a client base that includes Major League Baseball, Madison Square Garden, the SEC, the Arena Football League and others.
"It's great to be a part of the return of professional hockey to Orlando. Solar Bears fans have been waiting for this for a long time and our inspiration was drawn from their love and dedication to the previous identity. Our vision for the club was to create an inspired look that enhances the Solar Bears brand throughout Central Florida and beyond," said Bosack.
Merchandise with the new logos will be available for sale this spring and the entire line will be ready in time for Opening Night in October 2012. Updates will be available on www.orlandosolarbearshockey.com .
