The Elmira Jackals look for their first eight-game winning streak within the same ECHL season when they host the Cincinnati Cyclones tonight at 7:35 p.m. The Jackals earned another come-from-behind, one-goal win on Friday night, defeating the South Carolina Stingrays on home ice, 3-2. Cincinnati's six-game winning streak came to an end last night, as the Cyclones fell in Wheeling, 5-2. The meeting is the first of three between the Jackals and the Cyclones in 2011-2012.
JACKALS EQUAL BEST WINNING STREAK
Elmira's seven-game winning streak equals its longest within one season since joining the ECHL in 2007. The Jackals have had two prior seven-game winning streaks, winning seven in a row from Nov. 17 to 27 of the 2007-2008 campaign and doing the same from Oct. 16 to 31 of 2009-2010. Elmira won 10-straight games over two-different ECHL campaigns from the end of 2008-2009 through the start of 2009-2010. The longest winning streak in franchise history is 12 games, which the Jackals accomplished from Oct. 12 to Nov. 4 in 2001-2002 during their second season of play in the UHL. The Cyclones hold the ECHL record for the longest winning streak, prevailing with a victory in 17-straight games in 2007-2008.
ONE-GOAL WONDERS
All seven victories during Elmira's current winning streak have been by one goal, as the Jackals have 13-straight victories in games decided by one goal. Elmira leads the league with a 14-3-0-0 record this season. The Jackals have not lost a one-goal game since Nov. 11, when the Jackals fell to Reading at First Arena, 5-4.
