
Orlando Completes Trade for Former Lighting Draft Pick

Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears announced today that they have acquired RW Chris Lawrence from the San Francisco Bulls in exchange for future considerations.
Lawrence (6'4", 220 lbs.) has played in six games for the Bulls this season, [image: Chris Lawrence] recording two goals and adding three assists for five points. Prior to playing eight games in Austria last year, Lawrence divided the 2010-11 season among the Stockton Thunder (ECHL) along with the Worcester Sharks and Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL). In his 57 games in Stockton, the Mimico, Ontario, native picked up 22 goals and 32 assists for 54 points along with recording 83 penalty minutes (PIM). He led the Thunder in goals, assists, and points that season.
Lawrence's professional experience includes stops with Houston, Worcester, and Norfolk in the AHL, where he has totaled 32 points (11 goals, 21 assists) and 133 PIM in 181 games. Along with San Francisco and Stockton, Lawrence has also split 10 ECHL games with the Augusta Lynx and Mississippi Sea Wolves in 2008-09 where he registered one goal and added three assists.
Drafted by the Tampa Bay Lighting in the third round (#89 overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Lawrence played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 2003-2007. He recorded 205 points on 88 goals and 117 assists in 261 OHL games, and also added 295 PIM. Lawrence appeared in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Top Prospects Game in 2004-05, and has twice represented Canada twice on the World Stage, winning a silver medal in the World Junior Championships in 2004-05 and collecting a gold medal in 2003-04.
The Solar Bears continue their seven-game home stand at the Amway Center on Saturday, November 17, at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 18, at 3:00 p.m., and Tuesday, November 20, at 7:00 p.m., against the Kalamazoo Wings.
The Orlando Solar Bears, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and AHL's Houston Aeros, are in their Out of Hibernation and play all of their home games at the 2012 Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal Sports Facility of the Year, the Amway Center.
