
Royals Acquire Forward Evan Barlow in a Trade with San Francisco

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has acquired forward Evan Barlow from the San Francisco Bulls of the ECHL in return for forward Jesse Todd and future considerations. In a separate transaction, the Royals also claimed the ECHL rights to forward Brandon Blandina ("blan DEE nah"), who was waived by the Elmira Jackals.
Barlow (5'9/184) (27), a fourth year pro from Strathmore, Alberta, scored two goals, assisted on three others (five points) and picked up eight penalty minutes in nine games with the Bulls. Barlow, who was selected to the 2009-10 ECHL All-Rookie Team, has recorded 152 points (61g-91a) and 131 penalty minutes in 119 ECHL games with the Idaho Steelheads, Elmira Jackals, and San Francisco. Barlow has also registered thirty-four points (11g-23a) in 65 total AHL games with the Abbotsford Heat and San Antonio Rampage. Prior to turning pro, Barlow recorded sixty-one points (28g-33a) and 143 penalty minute in 126 total college games at Cornell University. Todd, a first year pro from Calgary, Alberta, picked up two points (1g-1a) in seven games with Reading. Blandina (6'0/200) (23), a first year pro from Centennial, Colorado, played seven games for Elmira, scoring one goal and assisting on two others (three points). Prior to turning pro, Blandina played collegiately at Robert Morris University, where he recorded a total of thirty-eight points (11g-27a) and fifty-six penalty minutes in 133 games.
The Royals return to action on Friday when the team will face the Cincinnati Cyclones for the first time this season. The puck will drop on the opening face-off at US Bank Arena in Cincinnati at 7:35 pm. The game night broadcast will kick off on ESPN Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm at 7:05 pm with the Pre-Game Warm-Up Show presented by Steve Moyer Subaru. Friday's game, as with all Royals road games this year, will be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on BCTV on Royals TV presented by Boscov's Travel and Apple Vacations.
