
RW Cameron Abney Assigned to the Thunder

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League, announced today that Edmonton has assigned right wing Cameron Abney (AB-nee) to the Thunder from the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.
Abney, 21, has skated in three games with the Barons this season and posted seven penalty minutes. He made his Thunder season debut on Oct. 27 at Bakersfield and collected five penalty minutes.
During the 2011-12 season, he earned five points and 132 penalty minutes in 29 ECHL games.
The 6-foot-5 and 205 pound forward was selected by Edmonton in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and skated in 14 games with Oklahoma City last season, collecting 24 penalty minutes. He also suited up in three Calder Cup Playoff games during the Barons' run to the Western Conference Finals.
Abney, a native of Aldergrove, B.C., played in 180 career junior games with Everett and Edmonton of the Western Hockey League and picked up 37 points and 298 penalty minutes.
The Thunder returns to play tomorrow at Stockton Arena, hosting the Utah Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m.
