Orioles Select Contract Of RHP Alfredo Simon From Triple-A Norfolk

The Orioles today announced that they have selected the contract of RHP ALFREDO SIMON from Triple-A Norfolk, optioned RHP KAM MICKOLIO to the Tides and designated LHP WILFRIDO PEREZ for assignment.

Simon, 28, was 1-1 with a 1.59 ERA (17.0IP, 3ER), five walks and 14 strikeouts in four games (three starts) with the Tides.

Mickolio, 25, pitched to a 7.36 ERA (3.2IP, 3ER) with three walks and four strikeouts in three games with the Orioles after he was recalled on April 15.

In order to make room for Simon on the 40-man roster, the Orioles designated LHP Wilfrido Perez for assignment. Perez, 25, was 0-1 with three saves and a 10.80 ERA (5.0IP, 6ER), five walks and five strikeouts in five games with Double-A Bowie.
