TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons host the Durham Bulls in the first game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). Tonight's game also starts and eight-game homestand as the Herd will host Louisville, May 1-4. Buffalo is coming off its second 3-3 roadtrip of the year as the club split a two-game set with Rochester and a four-game series in Pawtucket.
vs. THE BULLS: This series will be Durham's only trip to Coca-Cola Field in 2010. Last year, the Bisons won three of four from the Bulls in Buffalo and split the season series, 4-4. The Bisons haven't lost a season series to the Bulls since 1999. In the last 10 years, the Herd has five season-series wins over Durham and five splits.
GOSH GOLLY GEE: RHP DILLON GEE has pitched extremely well for the Herd so far this season. The righty, who will turn 24 tomorrow, is a perfect 3-0 in three starts, having allowed just two runs in 18.0 innings of work. Opponents are hitting just .177 off Gee with only two extra-base hits (both doubles). Gee has also struck out 16 and walked just one batter so far in 2010.
WELL SERVED: OF MIKE CERVENAK enters tonight's game on an 11-game hit streak. The two-time International League All-Star has averaged .283 (13-46) since the streak began on April 15. It's the second-longest active streak in the IL, trailing only Durham's Justin Ruggiano's 12-game streak. During the stretch, Cervenak has three doubles, two home runs and three RBI.
BIG BAT: OF CHRIS CARTER is coming off an impressive roadtrip. The slugger hit .458 (11-24) in six games with three doubles, a home run, three RBI and three runs scored. He had multiple hits in four of the six games during the trip. Carter is now second on the team in batting average (.303) with two homers and 10RBI in 17 games with the Herd.
DYNOMITE DEBUT: INF MIKE JACOBS has four hits in his first 10 at-bats with the Bisons. The 29-year old homered as part of a three-hit game in his Herd debut on Sunday. Yesterday, Jacobs singled in four trips. The slugger has 100 career major league homers, including 32 with the Marlins in 2008.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (10-9) had the opener of their three-game series with the Dodgers rained out last night. New York will host Los Angeles for a doubleheader tonight starting at 4:10 p.m. The Mets have won six of their last seven games, including a three-game sweep of the Atlanta Braves. Since his promotion last week, former Bisons' INF IKE DAVIS is hitting .318 (7-22) with a home run and two RBI.
