November 12, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Ontario Reign News Release
Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), visit the Iowa Wild tonight at 5:00 PT at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Tonight is the first-ever meeting between the two teams and the first of two regular-season meetings this season.
On the Road Again: The Reign return to the road after spending five of the last six games away from Citizens Business Bank Arena. After completing a season-high five game road trip (1-2-2-0) last weekend, the Reign returned home to host the San Antonio Rampage on Wednesday (5-1 loss).
Central Division Success: The Ontario Reign went 6-2-0-0 against Central Division opponents last season, battling the Charlotte Checkers and Manitoba Moose. This season, the Reign will see the Checkers, Wild and Rockford IceHogs
Sutter Returns: Reign forward Brett Sutter skated the last two seasons with the Iowa Wild before being traded to the Kings by the Minnesota Wild last February. In 128 games with Iowa, Sutter buried 16 goals and 27 assists for 43 points and dressed in six games with Minnesota during the 2014-15 season.
Determined in Des Moines: The Wild are the third AHL team to occupy Des Moines in the city's history. The Iowa Stars (Dallas Stars NHL affiliate) skated from 2005-2008 and the Iowa Chops (Anaheim Ducks NHL affiliate) appeared for the 2008-09 season. The Minnesota Wild (NHL) moved the Iowa Wild from Houston, Texas to Des Moines prior to the 2013-14 season.
