IceHogs Host Checkers on Brovember Night

November 12, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs will host the Charlotte Checkers in their return to the BMO Harris Bank Center after a four-game road trip.

Puck drop is 7 p.m. and it is Brovember Night in support of local prostate cancer research and education. Tickets can be purchased at the BMO Harris Bank Center Box Office or any Ticketmaster location, by phone at (815) 968-5222 or online at www.icehogs.com and www.ticketmaster.com.

Fans unable to make the game can tune in to all the action on The Justice Network 23.3 beginning with IceHogs Warmup at 6:30 p.m. IceHogs fans can also listen to the game at WXRX.com or watch live at AHLlive.com.

Goals have been a struggle to come by for the IceHogs as they were shutout last night in Grand Rapids and were able to muster only two goals in their four-game stint away from Rockford. Defenseman Cameron Schilling was the last Hog to the light the lamp with a goal in Iowa last Sunday.

Home ice might be just the recipe the IceHogs need to get their scoring back on track as they make their return to Rockford. While the IceHogs have put more than three goals on the board just once this season, that lone game occurred at the BMO, and the IceHogs scoring has been much prolific this season in their own barn. In four games at home this season, the IceHogs have struck for 13 goals, averaging just over three goals per game. In addition, Rockford has outshot their opponents 143-119 at home.

IceHogs fans will also see the return of Michael Leighton to Rockford in Saturday's match-up. Leighton posted a clean sheet in the IceHogs first season meeting and only allowed one goal the next night in Charlotte. He set the AHL shutout record with the IceHogs on March 5 when he collected his 46th career AHL shutout and 10th while in Rockford.
