Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
Four hits were all the Winnipeg Goldeyes could muster Saturday night and it wasn't nearly enough.
The Goldeyes dropped their second straight game against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 3-1 Saturday night before 6,434 fans at Shaw Park.
Winnipeg's only run opened the scoring in the second inning when a David Narodowski single scored Josh Mazzola.
Fargo scored once in each of the third, eighth and ninth innings. The go-ahead and insurance runs for the RedHawks were especially crushing. In the eighth, Nic Jackson reached base on an error by Narodowski with two outs and came around to score. Todd Jennings was hit by a Dexter Carter pitch in the ninth, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sac fly.
Besides Narodowski, who had two hits, Jon Weber and Luis Alen were the only other Goldeyes to register a hit in the game.
Neither team in the game had an extra-base hit.
Goldeyes starter Ace Walker pitched seven and two-thirds innings. He allowed just two runs, only one was earned, on six hits and struck out seven. However, he took his second loss of the season.
Paul Burnside went seven innings for the win, while Tom Boleksa earned his 10th save for Fargo.
The series finale goes tomorrow afternoon at Shaw Park and the Goldeyes can split the series with a win. Rookie Chris Zbin (0-0, 13.50) will make his first professional start for Winnipeg. The RedHawks are expected to give the ball to Aaron Shafer (1-4, 6.06).
Coverage on TSN 1290 begins with 55 with Forney at Noon. Game time is 1:30 p.m.
