Schaumburg Boomers News Release
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - An RBI-single in the fourth off the bat of catcher Mike Valadez provided the only run as the Schaumburg Boomers defeated the Joliet Slammers by a final of 1-0 in a pitcher's duel Wednesday at Boomers Stadium in Schaumburg.
Coming off a big series victory against the Windy City ThunderBolts, the Boomers (36-25)rode the left arm of starter Cameron Roth (7-4, 3.26) to win their second straight and improve to 25-9 at Boomers Stadium during their Inaugural Season. The 6-4 former Baltimore Orioles farmhand rallied after a tough outing against the Gateway Grizzlies last Friday to strike out eight in eight shutout innings for Schaumburg Wednesday evening. Closer Patrick Mincey clinched another Boomers victory after striking out two of the three batters he faced in the ninth for his 11th save of the season.
K.C. Judge, the newest member of the Boomers acquired Tuesday in a trade that sent INF J.B. Brown to the Normal CornBelters, was the lone Boomers batter with multiple hits on the night. Judge led off the fourth with a blooper turned double to set the stage for what proved-to-be the game-winning single by Valadez. Karexon Sanchez reach base three times for the Boomers out of the leadoff spot, finishing 1-2 with a pair of walks.
