Hagerstown Suns News Release
HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Hagerstown Suns pride themselves on providing unsurpassed customer service to their fans, but the Suns are not the only ones in the Tri-State Area doing good deeds. With this in mind, the Suns have announced the "Hagerstown Sun for a Day" contest, giving fans the chance to nominate someone in the community who has gone above-and-beyond the call of duty in order to help them out.
"We're looking for people in the Hagerstown area who first of all love baseball, and secondly have shown a willingness to do that little bit extra for someone else," said Suns President and General Manager Bob Flannery. "The Suns work very hard to provide unsurpassed customer service, and really this contest is to honor the people who show a similar ethic."
The Suns will take applicants for the contest starting on Wednesday, July 15th, and the winner will be announced on Monday, August 10th.
To nominate someone in your life who has provided you with a helping hand, email Joel Pagliaro, the Suns Director of Corporate Partnerships.
"This is for anyone, from the checker at a store who offered to carry your groceries outside in the rain to a firefighter who rescued your cat from a tree, or even just someone who always brightens your day with a smile" said Pagliaro. "Anyone who has made a difference in your life, or in the community, by offering a helping hand."
The winner will get the opportunity to become part of the team for a day, including their own locker in the clubhouse, a personalized Suns jersey, and the chance to take batting practice before the game with the team. In addition, the winner will get the opportunity to take the field with the team during the National Anthem, sit in the dugout during the first few innings of the game and have a private autograph session with the Suns.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be on the field, and in the dugout, during a professional baseball game," said Pagliaro. "And after that, the winner and his or her family will get great seats in the Suns private field suite. All in all, it'll be a day they'll never forget."
Nominations must be received by the Hagerstown Suns by Friday, August 7th and include the name and contact information for both the person nominated and the submitter of the nomination. An explanation of why you think the person is deserving of the honor must also be included.
If you are unable to email your nomination to joelpagliaro@hagerstownsuns.com, submissions can also be made at the Hagerstown Suns front office, located at Municipal Stadium.
"No good deed should go unrewarded," said Flannery. "And this is one way the Suns can show their appreciation for all the amazing people in this town."
The Hagerstown Suns play at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown, MD and are a Class "A" affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Ticket packages and sponsorships are available by calling the Suns at 301-791-6266. Visit the Suns on the web at www.hagerstownsuns.com. The Suns are owned by Los Angeles based Mandalay Baseball Properties.
