Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

YESTERDAY'S WIN : The Chasers slugged six homers, their most in a game since they had six on May 30, 2010 vs Round Rock, in an 8-2 win with to split the series at Memphis. Aaron Brooks posted his third straight quality start, and has allowed six runs in his last 25.0 innings for Omaha.

PAREDES PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jimmy Paredes was named the PCL Player of the Week for May 12-18, the first Omaha player to receive the weekly award this season and his second career PCL Player of the Week honor (July 16-23, 2012 with Oklahoma City). Paredes led the league with 12 RBI during the week and had seven runs, two stolen bases and ten hits (five for extra-bases). He completed the first ever cycle at Werner Park on May 12, only the second cycle in the PCL since the start of the 2012 season (Carlos Triunfel for Tacoma on April 17, 2013) and first for Omaha since Lorenzo Cain at Colorado Springs on May 14, 2011. Paredes had just four RBI in his first 17 games with Omaha this season. Since 2009, only two other Omaha non-pitchers have got Player of the Week award in April/May (Max Ramirez for May 6-13, 2013 and Alex Gordon for May 10-17, 2010).

FINISHING NASHVILLE: The Storm Chasers and Sounds begin their final series of the 16 games against one another in 2014, the first PCL matchup to be finished this season. Since Omaha and Nashville began playing 16 games per season every year starting in 2003, it is the earliest the season series has ever been completed (previous early date was June 8 during the 2009 season).

ORLANDO MAGIC ROADSHOW: Paulo Orlando's on-base streak in road games is at 17 (18 games unofficially as he had a hit in the suspended game at Round Rock on May 8). It is the second longest longest road on-base streak this season in Triple-A baseball behind Tacoma Chris Taylor at 19 road games (Orlando is the only player to reach base in all of his team's road games). Orlando has a better average on the road (.391, 25-for-64) than at home (.316, 24-for-76) in 2014.

BRINGIN THE PENA IN THE PCL: Francisco Pena hit his team-leading ninth homer yesterday (one of nine PCL players with nine or more), matching his career high he set last year with Las Vegas. Pena has 18 homers in 97 PCL games, and 31 homers in 525 games in any other league. Last year Brett Hayes became the first catcher in Omaha history to lead the team in homers with 17.

LOW LEADER: Paulo Orlando leads the team with 20 RBI (the lowest team leader in the PCL). The last time Omaha did not have a player reach 30 RBI in the first two months of the season was in 2000 when Les Norman led the Golden Spikes with 27 RBI in April and May.

WALTERS FALTERS: Omaha starter P.J. Walters has given up 19 runs in three May starts, and his 15 earned runs accounts for nearly half of Chasers starters earned runs in May (41 ER). No other starter in May for Omaha besides Walters has given up more than three earned runs.
