
Olt's Blast Leads Missions Offense over Cards

SPRINGFIELD - Bryan Rodriguez and a pair of relievers held the Cardinals in check as the Missions spoiled Springfield's home opener Thursday night in front of 5,263 at Hammons Field.
Rodriguez tossed seven scoreless frames while Rafael De Paula and Brandon Alger each added a shutout inning, moving San Antonio over .500 (4-3) for the first time since August 23, 2014.
The Missions sent nine men to the plate and scored four times in the third inning, fueled by a three-run homer off the bat of Mike Olt that carried over the back wall of the left-field bullpen and out of the stadium.
Nick Torres paced a season high 11-hit attack with three singles and a pair of runs.
San Antonio's defense continued to shine. The Missions played their fifth errorless game and turned three more double plays, giving them a Texas-League best 14 thru seven games..
NOTES: The bullpen has combined for six scoreless innings in the last two games after posting a 6.88 ERA over the club's first five contests...The Missions have won 13 of the last 19 played at Hammons Field.
