SPRINGDALE, Ark. - Trailing 3-0 headed to the top of the fifth inning, Raul Mondesi had one thing on his mind: atone for the error committed in the bottom of the fourth to allow a third run to cross. He did by blasting his third home run of the season off Frisco's starter, Connor Sadzeck, into the right-centerfield berm at Dr. Pepper Ballpark on Friday night.

The home run by Mondesi was the lone run scored in the Naturals 7-1 loss to the Frisco RoughRiders as the bats were stymied by Sadzeck (2-0, 0.82) and a stout 'Riders' bullpen effort.

Right-hander Christian Binford (0-2, 13.00) took the baseball for the Naturals (3-5) in his third start of the 2016 season and hurled 4.2 innings in the loss. Binford worked better than his final line suggests as he battled his way into the fifth frame.

The RoughRiders plated a single run off Binford in the second inning on a two-out RBI double into left-field by Luis Marte and then two more runs crossed in the fourth inning - one earned - on a double on a fielder's choice by Preston Beck and the fielding error.

Binford allowed seven runs, six earned, on nine hits over his 4.2 innings of work. He struck out a season-high five batters and walked one batter before turning the ball over to reliever Yender Caramo. The bullpen tandem of Caramo and right-hander Andrew Edwards combined for 3.1 innings of scoreless baseball with four strikeouts and just two hits surrendered.

Mondesi and Hunter Dozier led the offense with two hits each, while both extended their hitting streaks to six and five games, respectively. The two infielders each recorded a double for one of their two hits.

Northwest Arkansas finished with seven hits on the night while the pitching staff combined for nine total strike outs and just one walk issued.

The Naturals look to salvage the final game of the three-game series as right-hander Jake Junis (0-0-, 2.08) takes the hill for his second start of the season against Frisco's right-hander, Sam Wolff (1-0, 0.00) in the finale.

First pitch from Dr. Pepper Ballpark is slated for 7:05 p.m. with Voice of the Naturals, Benjamin Kelly, opening up the airwaves with a 6:50 Indigo Sky Casino Pregame Show leading up to first pitch.
