
Olofsson and Labbe Ink ATOs, Iowa Signs Macqueen

Des Moines, IA - Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced on Saturday the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed defensemen Gustav Olofsson and Dylan Labbe to Amateur Tryout Agreements (ATO). Mill also announced the team has signed forward Jamie MacQueen to a Professional Tryout Agreement (PTO).
On Mar. 24, the Minnesota Wild signed Olofsson to a three-year entry-level contract starting with the 2014-15 season. He was Minnesota's second-round (46th overall) pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The Boras, Sweden native played one season at Colorado College (CC), scoring four goals and adding four assists for eight points in 30 games. Olofsson's season came to an end against North Dakota in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference quarterfinal round. In the three-game series, the 6-foot-4, 191-pound blueliner tallied an assist. He was also named to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team.
Olofsson helped lead Sweden to a Silver Medal at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championships in Malmo, Sweden. He ranked tied for second in scoring amongst defensemen in the tournament with five points (1-45), and earned a plus-5 rating. Before his freshman season at CC, Olofsson skated for the Green Bay Gamblers in the United States Hockey League (USHL) scoring 23 points (2-2123) with a plus-11 rating in 63 games. He was named to the USHL All-Rookie Team and played in the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.
Dylan Labbe turns pro after three-year run with the QMJHL's Shawinigan Cataractes. From 2011-14, Labbe played in 130 games, scoring 16 times and adding 39 assists for 55 points. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder also added 84 penalty minutes. The St. Benjamin, PQ native was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the fourth round (#107 overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Both defensemen are likely to make their AHL and pro debuts this weekend.
MacQueen joins the Wild from the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL. He has played the bulk of the year with the Grizzlies, scoring 19 goals and totaling 32 points in 36 games played. The 25-year old has also played in 19 games for the AHL's Norfolk Admirals and the St. John's IceCaps. The forward scored one goal and set up two others in 14 games with Norfolk. He added one assist in five games with the IceCaps. MacQueen played in 32 AHL games for Lake Erie as a rookie in 2012-13. In all, the London, ON native has played in 51 AHL games, scoring four goals and adding nine points. He played collegiately at Bemidji State University from 2008-12. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder scored 24 goals and added 23 assists for 47 points in 147 games played.
Iowa begins a five-game road trip on Saturday, Mar. 29 at 2 p.m. in Toronto and at 2 p.m. in Utica on Sunday. The team will also make stops in Utica, Grand Rapids, Chicago and Milwaukee prior to returning home on Friday, April 11 for Chicago at 7:05 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.
