Kostopoulos Appears in 400th Game with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

NORFOLK, VA - Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins captain Tom Kostopoulos appeared in his 400th game with the club on Saturday night against the Norfolk Admirals.

A member of the Penguins inaugural squad in 1999-2000, Kostopoulos is the team's all-time leader in games played (400), as well as goals (121), assists (176) and points (297), and ranks fifth on the club's all-time list with 630 penalty minutes.

The native of Mississauga, Ontario was selected in the seventh round (204th overall) of the 1999 NHL entry draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Kostopoulos spent his first two professional seasons with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and split the next three seasons (2001-02 through 2003-04) between Wilkes-Barre and Pittsburgh.

Kostopoulos made his professional debut with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton during the team's 1999-2000 season. He paced the Penguins with 27 goals and 53 points during the 2001-02 campaign, and represented the team at the 2002 AHL All-Star Classic. He also led the team with 42 assists during the 2002-03 season.

He made his NHL debut with Pittsburgh on December 29, 2001, and tallied a goal in his first game, a 5-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators.

Kostopoulos has served as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton captain on three occasions (2002-03, 2003-04, 2013-14), and appeared in the 2001 and 2004 Calder Cup Finals with the Penguins.

Signed to an American Hockey League contract on September 3, 2013, Kostopoulos currently leads Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with 21 goals and 44 points in 65 games this season.

Kostopoulos has appeared in 630 NHL games during his 15-year pro career, recording 157 points (61+96) with the Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, Montreal Canadiens, Carolina Hurricanes, Calgary Flames and New Jersey Devils.
