
OLN, Channel 4 to Televise All-Star Game

SAN DIEGO - OLN, the cable home of the National Hockey League, and the ECHL announced that OLN will televise the 2006 Bud Light ECHL All-Star Game on Jan. 26 from 2-4 p.m. PST. Channel 4 San Diego has also announced that it will televise the game at 9:30 p.m. (PST) on Jan. 25.
"The ECHL is excited about the opportunity to air our showcase event on OLN, the nation's platform for professional hockey," said Glen Thornborough, Senior Vice President of Marketing/Business Development. "Now fans nationwide will be afforded the excitement of ECHL hockey and the opportunity to witness some of hockey's future stars."
The ECHL All-Star Game will be played at Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif. on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. (PST).
Showcasing some of the top young players in the ECHL, the game draws coaches and scouts from both the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League and there have been over 25 players from the ECHL All-Star Game that have gone on to play in the NHL.
Rookie winger Jesse Bennefield is the San Diego Gulls' representative on the National Conference roster. Bennefield currently leads the Gulls with 18 goals and is tied for second on the club with 33 points. His 18 goals are tied for third overall among ECHL rookies and his 33 points is tied for seventh among league freshman.
