Bakersfield, Calif. - The 2nd Annual Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon brings in $20,384.77 for Link to Life, a breast cancer resource center serving Kern County. The two-year event total reaches $43,766.47. Last season, the first hockey- thon was held March 25-26, 2005.

Organized by former Fog and Condors defenseman Kevin Barrett, the event included more than 75 players of all ages and experience levels completing a combined 27 hours of hockey. The event began with the Condors home game on Friday, December 30th against the Fresno Falcons. Following that game, the puck dropped at the nearby Bakersfield Ice Sports Center and continued through the night and the next day. Then, at 5pm on Saturday, December 31st, the games came back to the Rabobank Arena with the Condors Legends and Celebrity game featuring former Condors Kevin Barrett, Jamie Cooke, Steve Dowhy, Brian McCarthy, Glen Mears, Al Murphy, and Paul Rosebush, current Condors Assistant Coach Mark Pederson, broadcaster Devin Rossiter, and several other local celebrities and media personnel. The event concluded with the Condors 3-1 victory over the Stockton Thunder that night, sponsored by KUZZ 107.9 and Bright House Networks.

"In the year 2005 we raised over $40,000 for breast cancer, and that is a great feeling" said Barrett. "Breast cancer and hockey are both very dear to my heart and I'm glad I could positively contribute to both. I'd like to thank the players- their attitudes were superb throughout. I'd also like to extend sincere appreciation to the staff of the Bakersfield Condors, Rabobank Arena and the Ice Sports Center as well as all the volunteers for helping make this year great. I look forward to making this event a tradition in Bakersfield."

"With this donation we will continue our mammogram and ultra-sound programs and support women who are going through cancer treatments," said Jennifer Henry, executive director of Link to Life. "Thank you to all the volunteers, the Condors, Kevin Barrett and the Bakersfield community for their support. It was a fabulous event."

The event also brought great support from sponsors Three Way Chevrolet, who sponsored the jerseys for the event. Body Xchange Sports & Fitness Club and Outback Steakhouse provided donations as did the Bakersfield Condors, who donated 4 season tickets to the player who collected the most money in pledges. This year, the top spot went to Rob Harrison who collected $1,000 in pledges.

The Condors host the Victoria Salmon Kings in back to back games this weekend. On Friday, January 20th the first 2,000 fans will receive a Condors car magnet courtesy of the US Army. Saturday, January 21st is the KUZZ 107.9 and National Staffing Oildale vs. Rosedale cap giveaway. The first 2,000 fans will get to choose between an Oildale (trucker) style or Rosedale (Sergeant) style cap. The first style to run out is declared the winner. Both games start at 7pm and doors open at 6pm.

Individual game tickets are now on sale and may be purchased through the Rabobank Arena box office, open 10am-6pm Monday through Friday, 10am- 4pm on Saturdays with extended hours on game days.
