O'Koyea Dickson Named Southern League Player of the Week

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Today the Southern League announced that Chattanooga Lookouts' first baseman O'Koyea Dickson has been named the Southern League Player of the Week for the period of July 21-27. Dickson is the second Chattanooga Lookouts' player to earn a weekly accolade from the league this season, outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker took home the award for the week of 5/12.

Dickson began the week with a batting average of .246 and two second half home runs. The infielder's bat caught on fire during the team's series against Montgomery, stringing together three straight multi-hit games and raising his average to .262. Dickson also launched two home runs during that series to give him 15 on the season. That total is good for the fourth highest amount in the league.

The 2014 Southern League All-Star also had a hit in every game last week, giving him a season-high hitting streak of seven games. Dickson's banner week is a fitting end to his outstanding month. In the month of July he is hitting .333 (25-for-75) with four home runs and 16 RBIs.

Tonight, Dickson will aim to continue his hot streak as the Lookouts face off against the Huntsville Stars in the third game of their five game series. RHP Matt Shelton (2-3, 4.94) is set to take on RHP Eric Marzec (1-2, 4.39) at 7:30 p.m. EST.

After the team finishes up their series against Huntsville they return home on Thursday, July 31, to start a five-game set against the Birmingham Barons at 7:15 p.m.
