Oklahoma City Comets News Release
LAST GAME: Oklahoma defeated Round Rock 5-4 in 12 innings. The RedHawks never trailed during the game, and Chris Shelton hit a solo home run to leadoff the top of the 12 to help Oklahoma regain the advantage. Max Ramirez and Casey Benjamin hit home runs to help build a 4-0 lead, and Tommy Hunter pitched six and two-thirds shutout innings in his fifth quality start over seven chances for the RedHawks. Oklahoma's bullpen surrendered two runs in the eighth and a pair in the ninth to allow the Express to tie the game. Kazuo Fukumori pitched two scoreless innings to earn his first win in the United States.
LONG TIME GONE: Last night's 12 inning affair was played in four hours and four minutes, the longest game in terms of time passed that the RedHawks have played this season. Oklahoma's win took five minutes longer than their previous season-high, a three hour and 59 minute win on a getaway day at New Orleans on July 3. The RedHawks season-high in terms of innings is a July 7 win against Albuquerque in 13 innings.
BONUS BASEBALL:
Oklahoma improved to 10-4 in extra inning games this season with Monday's victory in 12 innings. Only Portland has won more games in extra innings, with 12 wins in 16 chances. Round Rock dropped to 4-9 in extra inning games with the loss. Tucson and Portland lead the PCL with 16 extra inning contests this season, while Tacoma has only played in five, the fewest in the league by five games.
BACK FROM BEIJING:
Taylor Teagarden was activated from the Temporary Inactive List prior to last night's game. The RedHawks catcher won a bronze medal with Team USA in the 2008 Summer Olympics and hit .188 over five games with two doubles, no home runs, and four runs batted in.
ROSTER REVAMPED:
Kevin Richardson and Drew Meyer were placed on the Disabled List earlier today, Michael Ballard was activated from the DL and Adam Fox was promoted. Richardson's was injured in a collision with Josh Kroeger at the plate on Thursday against Iowa, and the move is retroactive to Friday. Meyer injured his left leg while trying to steal second in the seventh inning last night. Ballard was placed on the disabled list on August 18, while Fox was transferred to Frisco on Saturday. Fox played two games for the RoughRiders with a pair of hits in six at bats before getting promoted back to Oklahoma today.
EVENED UP:
Oklahoma's win Monday evened the All-Time series with Round Rock at 30 wins apiece. The RedHawks improved to 10-3 against the Express this season after going 8-7 last season. Oklahoma has a better record against Round Rock on the road than the do at home, going 16-12 away during the All-Time series and holding a 14-18 mark at home.
AMERICAN SOUTH CHAMPIONS:
The RedHawks clinched the American South division title on August 23. Oklahoma has been in or tied for first since April 7, spanning 141 days, and was the first club to clinch its division in the Pacific Coast League this season. This title is the fifth in RedHawks history (1999, 2002, 2004, & 2005) and the tenth in Oklahoma City Triple-A history (including seven in the PCL and three in the American Association).

Oklahoma improved to 33-32 on the road with the win after going 40-32 at home this season... Wes Littleton was placed on the Temporary Inactive list earlier today.
