TODAY'S OPPONENT:

The Iowa Cubs are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Last year, Iowa tied Nashville for first in the American North Division. They lost the division title to Nashville by tie-breaker.

VS. IOWA:

The RedHawks and Cubs split a four-game series at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark May 17-20. The RedHawks won the middle two games. The Hawks hit .312 with three home runs in the series. The RedHawks were 4-4 at Principal Park last season.

TODAY'S GAME:

This is game 49 of the season. It's the third game of a four-game series and the seventh of 15 meetings between Oklahoma and Iowa this season.

LAST GAME:

The Cubs scored nine runs in the sixth inning on their way to a 13-8 win over the RedHawks. John Rheinecker took a no-decision in his first start of the season by throwing five scoreless innings. Steve Rowe took the loss, allowing six runs on five hits while not retiring a batter in the sixth inning.

ROSTER MOVES: Ron Mahay

joins the RedHawks on a major league rehab assignment, and Chris Baker joins the team after being activated off of the suspended list.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Alfredo Simon

makes his 10th start of the season for the RedHawks. He will be looking for his third win of the season after losing his last start against Iowa May 20 at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Simon allowed six runs on 10 hits in four innings. The Cubs will send Les Walrond to the hill.

NO HOMERS:

The RedHawks failed to homer for just the sixth time this month. They have hit 29 home runs in the month of May after hitting just nine in 24 games in April.

HIGHS AND LOWS:

The RedHawks allowed a season-high nine runs to the Cubs in the sixth inning last night. The RedHawks have been outscored 57-22 this season in the sixth inning. The Hawks 7-run ninth inning tied their season-high for most runs scored in an inning. The RedHawks drew a season-high nine walks, and struck out 13 times, one less than their season-high of 14.

BATTER OF THE WEEK: Jason Botts

is the PCLs Batter of the Week after hitting .524 (11-21) with two doubles, a home run, nine RBIs and five runs scored in six games. In 24 games this month, he is hitting .351 with three home runs and 25 RBIs. For the season, Botts is now hitting .277 with four home runs and a 39 RBIs. Botts is tied for third in the PCL with 39 RBIs

DAVID MATRANGA:

Matranga went 2-for-4 with an RBI last night but snapped a three-game homer streak. In the last four games, Matranga is 7-for-15 with three homers and eight RBIs. His only other homer before the streak was a walk-off shot in the bottom of the eighth inning in the second game of a doubleheader with Memphis April 15.

DOT-DOT-DOT:

The RedHawks have scored the first run in all six of their games on this road trip...The Hawks failed to get an extra base hit in a game for the first time this month last night, ending a streak of 23 straight games with an extra base hit. The last time the RedHawks didn't get an extra base hit was a 9-1 loss to Albuquerque April 30 at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark...the Hawks are tied for first in the month of May with a .309 team batting average, but last in the month of May with a 7.30 team ERA...For the season, RedHawk pitchers are 6th in the PCL in fewest hits allowed with 438 despite a league worst 5.52 team ERA...Botts has played in every game this season.
