Six Run Seventh Gives Sidewinders Fifth Straight Win

Tucson, AZ - The Sidewinders scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, including a two-run homer from 1B Jamie D'Antona, to give them an 11-9 victory over Tacoma in front of 4,541 fans at Tucson Electric Park on Saturday night. The victory was Tucson's fifth straight, and tenth in the last 13 games.

With a 3-1 lead, Tacoma put up five runs in the top half of the fifth to increase their lead to 8-1. SS Oswaldo Navarro led off the inning with a double to left field, and two batters later RF Wladimir Balentien hit his 11th home run of the season, a shot over the left center field wall. Balentien now has 39 RBI on the year.

In the bottom half of the inning, Tucson cut the lead to 8-4 on a two RBI triple from D'Antona and an RBI single from LF Dee Brown. D'Antona finished 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs scored, and just a double shy of the cycle.

Rainiers LF Jeremy Reed hit his fourth home run of the season in the top of the sixth to increase Tacoma's lead to 9-5.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Sidewinders erupted at the plate scoring six runs on D'Antona's two-run homer, and RBI singles from DH Chris Carter, C Matt Morgan and RF Alex Romero.

Carter added another run in the eighth with his fourth long ball of the season, a shot to right center. The homer put the Sidewinders up 11-9.

RHP Chad Harville pitched a hitless ninth inning to earn his 11th save of the season, and give the Sidewinders their fifth straight victory.

The Sidewinders will face Tacoma Sunday night in the third game of their four game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM. LHP Evan MacLane (4-3, 5.03) is scheduled to start for Tucson. Left-hander Jake Woods (1-3, 6.17) will start for Tacoma. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 5:45 p.m.
