TODAY'S OPPONENT:

The New Orleans Zephyrs are the Triple-A affiliate of New York Mets. The have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 1998. This is the first year the Mets are the parent club. Zephyrs were affiliated with Washington Nationals in 2005-06. Last year, Zephyrs finished third in the American South with a record of 72-71.

TODAY'S GAME:

Game 22 of the season, and third game of four-game series. This is game 3 of 16 vs. New Orleans this season.

LAST GAME: Victor Diaz

led the way for Oklahoma, going 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and four RBIs, as the RedHawks beat New Orleans 5-1. Oklahoma starter John Koronka allowed one run on three hits in 6.2 innings for the win.

VS. NEW ORLEANS:

The Zephyrs won the season series last year 10-6. RedHawks lead the overall series 78-66. RedHawk hitters hit .234 with nine homers vs. New Orleans pitching last year. 'Hawk pitchers had a 4.63 ERA vs. the Zephyrs.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mike Wood

makes his fourth start for the RedHawks. Wood earned his first victory of the season Monday at Round Rock. Wood was 0-1 in two starts vs. New Orleans last season for Omaha. The Z's totalled six runs on eight hits in eight innings in the two games Wood started. Jason Vargas goes to the mound for the Z's. Vargas went 1-1 with a 6.57 ERA in two starts against RedHawks last season for Albuquerque. Freddy Guzman went 2-for-4 with two walks and two runs scored and Diaz was 2-for-3 with a run scored last season against Vargas.

HOMER HAPPY:

Diaz's homer in the fifth yesterday was the first time this year a RedHawk had homered in back-to-back games this season. Diaz is now the team leader with three. RedHawks are 6-1 when they hit home run.

CLUTCH HITTING:

Over the last six games, RedHawks are hitting .377 (23-61) with runners in scoring position, after going 2-for-5 last night. In the first 15 games of the season, they had just 22 hits with RISP. They are now hitting .236 (45-191) for the season with RISP.

VICTOR DIAZ:

Diaz is riding a six-game hit streak into tonights game, he is 11-for-25 (.440) with two homers and 15 RBIs during the streak. He has two hits in each of the last five games.

STARTERS GET GOING:

RedHawks have won five of their last six and the starters are 4-0 with a 4.19 ERA in that stretch. For the season, the starters are 6-7 with a 4.62 ERA, and the bullpen is 5-3 with a 1.86 ERA.

'HAWKS VS. PCL:

Diaz leads the league 26 RBIs, is fourth with 30 hits and seventh with a .366 average ... Guzman is fifth with seven stolen bases ... Francisco Cruceta is third with 15 walks ... Koronka is fourth with 28.2 innings pitched ... RedHawk pitchers lead the PCL in fewest hits allowed with 147, Las Vegas and Nashville are tied for second with 160 hits allowed ... 'Hawk pitchers are tied with Fresno and Iowa for the league lead with two shutouts.
