Oklahoma took over first place in the American South Division with a 10-1 win over New Orleans Saturday night at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Guillermo Quiroz led the way on offense, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
The RedHawks (12-10) had a 2-0 lead until the fourth when they scored four runs on four hits, highlighted by Ramon Vazquez's two-RBI triple. The RedHawks added four more in the eighth on their way to the win.
Oklahoma starter Mike Wood (2-0) pitched seven strong innings, he allowed only one run on four hits and had a RedHawk season-high nine strikeouts.
New Orleans (12-11) struggled on offense and only managed four hits. Zephyr starter Jason Vargas (2-2) went four innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits.
Oklahoma will try for the sweep tomorrow at 2:05 CDT at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.
