Today's Game: The Oklahoma City Dodgers continue their road series against the Round Rock Express at 7:05 p.m. at Dell Diamond. The series between the teams is tied, 1-1, and the Dodgers are trying to avoid falling below .500 for the first time this season.
Last Game: Drew Robinson drove in three early runs, and Round Rock kept the Dodgers scoreless after the first inning, surviving an eventful ninth inning in a 3-2 victory Sunday night at Dell Diamond. Between the second and eighth innings, the Dodgers were held scoreless with just one hit, but they still trailed by only one run heading to the ninth. The Dodgers put the tying run at third base twice in the inning, but were unable to score. The Dodgers collected three straight hits with one out in the top of the first inning, including a RBI double by Zach Walters and a RBI single by Rob Segedin. Robinson answered with a game-tying two-run single in the bottom of the first inning and came through with another big two-out hit his next time up in the third inning to give the Express a 3-2 lead. Round Rock starting pitcher Chi Chi Gonzalez (2-5) settled in and kept OKC scoreless and to one hit over his final five frames, with only one runner reaching scoring position. He finished with six strikeouts and two walks over six innings. The Dodgers pitching staff kept Round Rock quiet after the Express took the lead in the third inning. Over the final five frames, OKC allowed just three hits and had just one runner reach scoring position. Starting pitcher Zach Lee picked up his third loss in as many starts. Lee (6-4) allowed three runs and eight hits - all singles - over five innings. Alex Claudio kept the Dodgers scoreless over the final two innings and earned his first save.
Today's Probable Pitcher: Nick Tepesch (4-2) makes his first start in the Dodgers organization tonight, as he squares off against his now former team...Tepesch was granted his release by Texas Saturday and signed with the Dodgers as a free agent Sunday...He started 11 games for the Express this season, going 4-2 with a 4.11 ERA. At the time of his release, he led Round Rock in starts and innings (65.2). In six of his last eight starts, he lasted at least six innings, going a season-high seven innings three times...Tepesch's last outing was May 31 in Nashville. He allowed three runs and seven hits over 6.1 innings in a no decision...He missed the entire 2015 season due to an elbow issue and eventually underwent surgery in August to correct Thoracic Outlet Syndrome...Tepesch is 9-17 with a 4.56 ERA over 42 games (39 starts) in his Major League career, all with Texas in 2013-14...The Rangers selected the Kansas City, Mo., native in the 14th round of the 2010 draft from the University of Missouri...In his career at Dell Diamond, Tepesch is 7-2 with a 1.53 ERA over nine starts, although this will obviously be the first time he has suited up for the visiting team.
Against the Express: 2016: 5-1 2015: 11-5 All-time: 99-82 At Round Rock: 53-40
This series marks the second of the 2016 season in Round Rock. The Dodgers swept the first series May 10-13, marking OKC's first-ever sweep at Dell Diamond, and handing the Express their first four-game sweep at home since May 17-20, 2012 vs. Fresno. OKC outscored Round Rock, 28-17, over the four-game set....The Dodgers won 11 of the 16 regular season meetings in 2015, marking OKC's highest win total in the season series between the teams since going 13-3 against the Express in 2010. However, the Express upended OKC in the first round of the 2015 playoffs with a three-game sweep...OKC has not finished with a losing record in Round Rock since the 2009 season and has either won or split nine consecutive series (4-0-5), and has lost just one of its last 14 series (7-1-6) at Dell Diamond...Express manager Jason Wood served as a hitting coach under OKC manager Bill Haselman with the High-A Bakersfield Blaze in 2010.
Rough Patch: The Dodgers have lost five of their last six games, and 11 of their last 14 games. Oklahoma City improved to 21-13 on May 14 before losing 14 of the next 20 games. They are now 27-27 and are trying to avoid falling below .500 for the first time since April 9, 2015, when they were 0-1. The Dodgers have been at .500 four previous times this season (1-1, 5-5, 7-7, 26-26).
Zach Attack: Zach Walters collected his third straight multi-hit game Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a RBI double and a run scored. Walters has stayed hot at the plate, going 8-for-13 in his last three games with three doubles, a triple, four RBI, and five runs scored...He has hit safely in eight straight games, going 13-for-29 (.448) with 11 RBI during that time. His eight-game hit streak is his longest since hitting safely in 13 consecutive games July 8-21, 2014 while with Triple-A Syracuse...After hitting just .170 in April, Walters is batting .326 (31x95) since the beginning of May.
Steady Segedin: Rob Segedin picked up his team-leading 16th multi-hit game of the season Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a RBI. He has hit safely in three straight games, going 5-for-12 with three doubles and two RBI...Segedin paces OKC with 59 hits through 51 games, including 25 for extra bases. His 31 RBI and 34 runs scored also lead the Dodgers. His six triples are tied for the league lead, while his 106 total bases are tied for fifth most in the PCL.
Charlie in Charge: After going 1-for-9 through his first three games with OKC, Charlie Culberson has hit safely in six of his last seven games, going 10-for-29 (.345) with three doubles. He has collected four multi-hit performances over his last six games...He entered Sunday's game as a pinch runner in the ninth inning and recorded his third stolen base, but did not have a plate appearance.
Grant Application: Since rejoining the OKC Dodgers in mid-May, Grant Dayton has been nearly untouchable. Over seven appearances, the lefty reliever has allowed one unearned run and four hits over 9.2 IP (4x33; .121 BAA). He's impressively struck out 51.5 percent of the batters he's faced during that time (17/33).
RISPy Business: The Dodgers went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position Sunday, marking the eighth time in the past 11 games the team finished with one or no hits with runners in scoring position. Over the last four games, they have gone 8-for-42 (.190) with runners in scoring position...On the other hand, Round Rock went 3-for-8 with runners in scoring position Sunday and opponents are now 25-for-63 (.397) with runners in scoring position over the last six games.
