Tulsa Oilers News Release

The Tulsa Oilers went 2-0-1 last week, and now stand at 22-23-11, 55 points, 5th place in the CHL's Northwest Division. Tulsa trails third-place Oklahoma City and New Mexico by 4 points.

The Oilers opened up their week on the road Thursday taking on the Lubbock Cotton Kings. Goaltender Tim Kelleher made 39 saves, but Lubbock outlasted Tulsa 2-1 in a shootout. Jason Bermingham scored the lone goal for the Oilers, set up by Branislav Kvetan.

After the game, Tulsa got back on the bus and came home for a Friday night encounter with the Indianapolis Ice. Playing three men short and trailing 5-2 in the third period, the Oilers rallied back to tie the game and force overtime. And in the extra frame, Cam Kuzyk capped off the remarkable comeback with the game-winning goal, giving the Oilers a thrilling 6-5 victory. Chris Page and Dan Gravelle recorded a goal and two assists each, while Wes Scanzano and Regan Harper contributed a goal and an assist as well. Kuzyk totaled three points in the game, adding two assists to go with the game-winner. Tim Kelleher stopped 29 between the Oiler pipes.

Saturday night, the Oilers completed their three-game-in-three-night swing, hosting the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. Tulsa gave arguably their most impressive showing of the season, defeating the Mudbugs 5-1 before 6,964 at the Tulsa Convention Center. The Oilers, still playing three men short, gave up the first goal, but then scored five unanswered tallies to claim the win. Chris Page scored twice, and Dan Gravelle added his second straight 3-point night (1G, 2A). Tim Kelleher earned his sixth win of the season in the cage for Tulsa, stopping 48 shots. Todd Marcellus also scored a goal and two helpers, and Wes Scanzano got a goal and an assist in the victory. Jason Bermingham had two assists.
