
Ice, Memphis and Wichita within a stone's throw

POST-SEASON PICTURE: The playoff picture remains very close as three teams (Indianapolis, Memphis, and Wichita) are within one point of each other for the third and fourth playoff spots in the Northern Conference heading into this week's play. The Ice is 3-1-1 on its ten-game road swing with four games through Texas on the docket this week.
CLOSE ENCOUNTERS: One-goal games has been the norm for the Ice this season as 34 of the teams' 56 games have been one-goal affairs. Of the team's last nine games alone, eight have been decided by a goal and the Ice has a record of 6-2-1 during that span. Overall, the team is 19-12-3 in one-goal games this year and only Wichita (35) has played more closely contested games in the CHL this season.
POWER POINTS: The Ice remains the second best power play unit in the CHL (60-282, 21.3%) in power play goals and percentage trailing only powerhouse Laredo of the Southern Conference, who have 77 power play goals and a league-best 25.6 percentage (77-301). The Ice's power play unit has scored a power play goal in eight of its last nine contests and has converted 11 of its last 36 chances (30.5%).
Top Power Play Producers: Bernie John (9G, 25A), Mario Doyon (12G, 20A), Jason Baird (6G, 20A), Jared Dumba (10G, 14A), Dave Gilmore (8G, 13A)
PLAYER PLUGS: Bernie John is the top-scoring defenseman in all of pro hockey (68 pts) and is coming off back to back three-point games....John also has points in ten of his last 11 games (4G, 13A)...Mario Doyon became the first defenseman in all of pro hockey to register 20 goals on the year with a lamplighter last Friday night in Tulsa.... Doyon is also three goals shy of 200 for his pro career...Jim Shepherd is two assists shy of 200 for his pro career...Ryan Aikia is one game shy of 450 for his pro career...Brent Zelenewich has won four straight games between the pipes...Dave Gilmore has five points (3G, 2A) in his last two games.
TEAM TOTALS: Indy has killed off 42 of its last 44 opponents' power play attempts...The Ice is third in the CHL in goals scored per game (3.32) and shots taken per game (34.13)...Of this weeks' opponents, Indy is 5-0-1 against Fort Worth this year, 1-1-0 against Odessa and is playing San Angelo and Amarillo for the first time this season.

ICE DEFEATS THUNDER 3-2
* Bernie John and Dave Gilmore had a goal and two assists apiece leading the Ice to a huge 3-2 win over Wichita....Brent Zelenewich had 22 saves in the win.
ICE FALLS APART LATE, DROPS 6-5 OVERTIME DECISION TO TULSA
* Tulsa erupted for three third period goals to send the game into overtime, before Cam Kuzyk got the game-winner for the Oilers just over a minute into the extra session...Dave Gilmore and Joe Guenther each had two goals for the Ice.
