Oilers Trade for Goaltender

TULSA, OK- The Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League have finalized a trade with the El Paso Buzzards for goaltender Matt Carmichael, head coach Garry Unger announced this afternoon. The Oilers will receive Carmichael in exchange for future considerations. To make room for Carmichael on the roster, the Oilers have placed goaltender Jason Stone on the injured reserve list with a strained foot.

Carmichael appeared in 23 games for the Buzzards through the first half of this season and posted a record of 6-14-2 with a 3.17 goal against average and a save percentage of .899. For his career, he has played in 125 games in three different leagues including the East Coast Hockey League, the United Hockey League and the CHL. The 5-10, 170-pound netminder has a career record of 50-49-12 while playing for teams in Roanoke and Louisville of the ECHL, Port Huron of the UHL, and Huntsville, San Antonio and El Paso of the CHL.

Carmichael and the rest of the Oilers will depart for Indianapolis tonight for their game on Wednesday against the Ice at 7:00 p.m. EST. The Oilers will then travel to Bossier City for a game on Friday night against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs before going on to Fort Worth for a game against the Brahmas on Saturday night.
