Oilers to Help in Crystal Meth Program

At Crystal Darkness Oklahoma Watch Party

The Tulsa Oilers are taking part in a statewide initiative to fight methamphetamine abuse in Oklahoma.

A documentary called /Crystal Darkness Oklahoma /will be shown on most television stations and the Oilers will be on hand at a public watch party at the Spirit Bank Event Center in Tulsa on Tuesday, January 13^th . The Oilers will be on hand starting at 6 p.m. and throughout the documentary which runs from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

"We understand this is a serious issue in our state and want the Oilers to do our part in helping the awareness," general manager Taylor Hall said. "Obviously it's important for athletes to maintain a drug free lifestyle and this event can help spread that word about the dangers. We're glad to do whatever we can."

This event continues a relationship the Oilers have cultivated in the area of drug and alcohol awareness/prevention.

"We had (goaltender) Kevin St. Pierre work with us creating several alcohol prevention Public Service Announcements over the holidays and he was a perfect spokesman," Gina Cooper, prevention specialist for ROCMND-Tulsa APRC said. "It's great the Oilers recognize this responsibility and have taken the lead in our community on these matters. We're looking forward to having them join us on the 13^th ."
