Tulsa Oilers News Release

ALLEN, TX - Eight games into the season, the Tulsa Oilers finally have a reason to celebrate. In their fifth meeting in the last eight days against the Allen Americans, the Oilers put together a strong defensive performance to earn their first win of the season, a 3-1 triumph at the Allen Event Center on Sunday evening. Tulsa, off to its worst start in franchise history, had lost six consecutive one-goal games before breaking through with its most complete outing of the season.

Brandon Coccimiglio's second goal in as many nights gave the visitors an early 1-0 advantage at the 12:01 mark of the first period. Coccimiglio scooped up a loose puck in Allen territory and skated all the way across the Americans' crease before firing the puck past a sprawling David Brown. Tulsa carried the one-goal lead into the first intermission.

It didn't take long in the second frame for the Oilers to build on their lead. Just 40 seconds into the period, Adam Pleskach drove toward the Allen net and flipped the puck over Brown's shoulder and into the upper corner of the goal. Pleskach, who recorded three assists in Saturday's 5-4 loss to Allen, has recorded five points in his first three games as an Oiler. Americans' forward Kale Kerbashian cut the Tulsa lead in half with power play tally at 10:44 of the second. Allen outshot Tulsa 16-6 in the middle period but the Oilers maintained a 2-1 advantage heading into the third.

Tulsa clamped down defensively in the final 20 minutes and held the Americans to just three shots in the third period. Michel Beausoleil put the finishing touches on the Oilers win with an empty net goal at 19:56. Oilers goalie Shane Madolora turned away 27 shots to help his team pick up its first win in the last 12 games dating back to last season.

Brothers Scott and Blair Macaulay made their Oilers debuts on Sunday while defenseman Jarred Mohr and forward Alexandre Beauregard were placed on the 14-day IR prior to the game.

The Oilers return home on Wednesday, November 6 at 7:05 p.m. for the first of 14 meetings against the Wichita Thunder.
