NOTE: Since this was prepared, the Oilers spoke with former Oiler Curtis Voth and he is expected to be in the line up tonihgt, wearing number 23. Rembmer tomororw is Teddy Bear toss. Bring your bears and your cameras. The Bears on the ice makes a great picture!
A Royal Visit: The Tulsa Oilers host the Memphis RiverKings tonight. This is the first time in 12 games the Oilers have played a team outside the Northwest division, as their previous 11 games have been gainst teams in the Northwest division.
Records: Oilers are 9-9-2 with 20 points, in fourth place in the Northwest Division. Memphis is 7-11-1 with 15 points in fourth place in the Northeast Division.
Season Series: The Oilers and RiverKings are meeting for the first time this season. The two teams play each other eight times, four in Memphis and four in Tulsa. The two teams will play each other twice more this month (December 30 in Tulsa and December 31 in Memphis)
Rookie Sniper: Center Jim Dahl of the Oilers leads all rookies with 10 goals. He also has 10 assists giving him 20 points, placing him second in the rookie scoring race behind Odessa's Dominic Leveille (6-20-26). Dahl also leads all rookies in shots on goal with 79.
On Your Marco: the Oilers began the season rotating goaltenders Marco Emond and Chris King on a game by game basis. But with King currently on injured reserve, Emond is starting his sixth straight game tonight. The Oilers back up goaltender is Corey Wogtech.
Sergeant Schulte: Left winger Paxton Schulte has made an immediate impact for the Oilers. He's played in only two games, but already has registered one goal and two assists for three points. He's also got seven penalty minutes and is a +3.
Holiday Happenings: The Salvation Army Band is on hand providing Christ mas music in the lobby prior to the game, and also accepting donations. The band will also be playing the National Anthem tonight.
Next Up: The Oilers begin another stretch of four straight divisional games when they host the Wichita Thunder tomorrow night at 7:35 p.m. That will be the Oilers last home game before Christams and the annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring Teddy Bears to the game and throw them on the ice after the Oilers score their first goal.
