Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

Bossier City, Louisiana - Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs team captain Dan Wildfong capped off a wild game on Friday night, scoring 42 seconds into overtime to give the host Mudbugs a 6-5 win over the Fort Worth Brahmas at the Century-Tel Center in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Wildfong's goal, a backhand through the legs of Fort Worth netminder Larry Sterling off the rebound of a Jason Campbell shot, spoiled a tremendous effort by the Brahmas.

Fort Worth found themselves facing a 4-1 deficit at the 13:40 mark of the second period when Campbell for the Bugs scored on a powerplay breakaway. The Brahmas, however, refused to wilt, and cut the Mudbugs lead to 4-2 when right wing Bret DeCecco scored on a one-time blast from the right wing side just 12 seconds after the Campbell goal.

DeCecco's goal sparked the Brahmas. Fort Worth stormed out of the dressing room to start the third period and quickly made it a one goal game at 4-3 when center Cory Stillman blasted a screaming wrist shot past Bossier goaltender Ken Carroll just 17 seconds into the final period. The Brahmas then tied the score at four when forward Derek Seal converted a two-on-one odd man rush for his fifth goal of the season at the 11:58 mark of the third. Fort Worth scored their fourth consecutive goal 59 seconds later when DeCecco netted his second of the game on another one time laser off of a beautiful setup from left wing Wes Mason. DeCecco's fifteenth goal of the year gave Fort Worth a 5-4 lead in front of a stunned Century-Tel Center crowd.

With the Brahmas clinging to their one goal lead, the Mudbugs pressed for the equalizer late in the game. The Bossier offensive pressure paid off with just 1:49 left in regulation when defenseman Quade Lightbody poked a loose puck past Sterling following a mad scramble in front of the Brahmas net. Lightbody's goal, his third of the year, tied the game at five, and set the stage for Wildfong's decisive overtime goal.

Sterling took the overtime loss for the Brahmas in net, allowing the six Bossier goals on 40 shots. Carroll was the winning netminder, making 16 saves on the 21 Fort Worth shots he faced.

Fort Worth is now 0-3 this season in overtime games. The Brahmas, winless in their last five games played, are 8-12-3 on the season. With the win, Bossier-Shreveport improves to 10-9-0. Fort Worth will have another crack at the Bugs tomorrow night, Saturday, December 17, when they play the Bugs again in Bossier City. Saturday night's game can be heard live and in its entirety in the Fort Worth area on Fox Sports 1460 AM.
