The Bucks capitalized twice in the first period. Working during four-on-four play defenseman Paul Elliott fired a wrist shot from the point that was redirected by Grenville at 11:09. It was the seventh of the year for Grenville. Then just as a power play chance expired Elliott gunned a shot that was stopped, but forward Ladislav Kouba was there to hop on the rebound at 12:52 for a 2-0 lead. It was the ninth for Kouba. The Bucks out shot the Ice Bats 16-7 in the frame.

The Ice Bats got back in the game early in the second. Forward Shawn Roed found forward Aaron Davis cutting backdoor with a perfect feed for a tap in goal at 4:59. Laredo had the answer as Grenville registered his second of the night, this time on a wrist shot from the slot at 8:52. It was his first multi goal game of the season. Just over two minutes later Elliott scored on the power play on a screened slap shot at 10:55. The second of the season for Elliott broke a 0-20 stretch on the man advantage for the Bucks and made it 4-1. Laredo continued to add to their lead as forward James Hiebert set up forward Jeff Bes at the top of the crease for a jam job at 17:08. It was the eighth of the season for Bes.

The Ice Bats tallied on the power play in the third as forward Michael Tucciarone converted on a one-timer at 3:05 to complete the scoring. FINAL SCORE Laredo 5, Austin 2.

David Lemanowicz stopped 24 of 26 to get the win and improve to 4-1-0. Matt Barnes allowed five goals on 38 shots and took the loss to fall to 3-9-1. The Bucks were 1-8 on the power play, while Austin was 1-9. The Bucks out shot the Bats 38-26.
