Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

Tulsa, OKLAHOMAanuary 1)- After a great defensive and offensive display to end the year, the Brahmas were unable to duplicate that performance in their New Year ‚¬â„¢s Day contest and dropped a 6-2 contest to the Tulsa Oilers.

The Oilers came out first and early just 4:10 into the game when Jack Combs scored to give Tulsa a 1-0 lead.

The Brahmas defense and goaltender Jeff Harvey were unable to stop the continuous assault from the Oilers in the second period, when at the 2:18 marker Michael Beausoleil flew one by Harvey to give the Oilers a 2-0 lead. The Oilers flow continued when Chad Costello, Derek Eastman, and Beausoleil all scoring for the Oilers within a two minute period to give the Oilers a 5-0 advantage.

Combs concluded the second period scoring with a goal with 52 seconds left in the second period to go up 6-0. Jeff Harvey gave up the first four goals and Kevin Beech allowed two of the Oilers six markers.

The third period favored the Brahmas when Chad Wollard put one between the pipes to get the Brahmas on the board with 8:52 left in the game. Beech continued to keep the Oiler pucks out of the Brahmas net when at the 2:30 mark, Mick Lawrence fired one past Ian Keserich to cut the Oiler lead, but it was not enough.

Five of the eight total goals were provided by special teams with Tulsa notching four power play goals and the Brahmas notching one. The Brahmas were only outshot 28-27 in the game.

The Brahmas next home game is set for tomorrow (Sunday, January 2) when they host the Colorado Eagles at the NYTEX Sports Centre with a 4:00 pm start. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com.
