Quad City Mallards News Release

INDEPENDENCE, MO - Obi Aduba scored with one second left in regulation to give the Quad City Mallards a stunning come-from-behind 3-2 win over the host Missouri Mavericks Saturday night.

Aduba tipped in Darren McMillan's drive from the right point to beat the buzzer and complete a remarkable late Mallard rally.

It seemed it was the Mavericks who were on course for victory after Missouri's Blake Forsythe scored from the goalmouth to snap a 1-1 tie with just two minutes and seven seconds left in the third period, but, undaunted, the Mallards would pull goaltender Jerad Kaufmann (27 saves) and tie the game at two when Eric Giosa scored in a goalmouth scramble with 1:35 left in regulation.

The Mallards and Mavericks entered the third period deadlocked after swapping second period goals. Dominic D'Amour buried a loose puck from the slot to open the scoring at 3:25 of the second while Missouri was on the power play. Tyler Townsend tied the score at one for the Mallards from close range at 7:57.

The Mallards return to action on the road tomorrow at 3:05 p.m. against the Bloomington PrairieThunder. The Flock next plays on home ice next Friday, January 7, at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers.
