Tulsa Oilers News Release

BLOOMINGTON, IL - Home or away, the Tulsa Oilers have been unable to find a winning formula against the Bloomington Blaze.

For the fourth time this season, the Oilers fell to the Blaze in a 6-3 Central Hockey League decision on Friday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Tulsa has now dropped five straight games and lost six in a row on the road.

David Alexandre Beauregard tapped in his fourth goal of the season at 7:54 of the first period to give the Oilers an early advantage. The lead was short-lived as Jared Walker responded with a tally for the Blaze just 57 seconds later. Tulsa tied a season high for shots in a period by firing 18 shots at the Blaze net in the first period.

The second period belonged to the Blaze as Walker gave the home side a 2-1 advantage just 48 seconds into the middle frame. Kyle Bochek quickly made it 3-1 off a gorgeous assist from Sebastien Trudeau who had fallen down next to the Oilers net and still managed to slide the puck to Bochek. Aaron Dawson chipped in a rebound at 9:39 and the Blaze went into the second intermission with a comfortable 4-1 edge.

Oilers forwards Mike Ullrich and Ben Gordon scored goals just 1:16 apart in the third and Tulsa suddenly found itself down 4-3 and back within striking distance. Bochek silenced the Oilers hopes when he stuffed a wraparound underneath Ian Keserich at 8:28. The goal, vigorously protested by Keserich, stood up for the Blaze and the Oilers were unable to recover. Despite several chances on a late 6-on-3 powerplay, the Oilers were unable to solve Bloomington netminder Pier-Olivier Pelletier. Walker completed his hat-trick with an empty net goal that sealed the Oilers fate.

Tulsa has lost 11 of its 13 games and will try to bounce back Saturday night in Wichita for the fourth meeting of the season against the Thunder. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. at Intrust Bank Arena.
