
Sundogs Take Hard Loss against Mavericks, 7-3

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs were unable to recover from their four point deficit in the first period, losing to the Mavericks 7-3 at the Independence Event Center Friday night.
The Missouri Mavericks lit the lamp five times in the first period giving them the early lead over Arizona. Andrew Courtney, Sebastien Thinel, Podge Turnbull, John-Scott Dickson and Brandon Smith all scored for the Mavericks. Chad Nehring scored on the power play registering the Sundogs lone goal in the first period with assists going to Derek LeBlanc and Mario Larocque .
Four in a half minutes into the second period Arizona's LeBlanc scored on a penalty shot. Jason Morgan recorded his third goal of the season which was immediately followed by the Maverick's Kenton Miller banking the puck past David Brown. Evan Vossen also scored a goal in the second period with assists from Podge Turnbull his fourth point of the evening and Colten Hayes.
Arizona looked to close the deficit heading into the final period but was unable to find the back of the net. Brown took the loss for the Sundogs making 25 saves, while the Mavericks outshot the Sundogs 32-26. Arizona was 1-1 on the power play tonight and Missouri was 1-3.
The Sundogs saw the addition of forward Adam Chorneyko and defenseman Deron Cousens to their line-up tonight. Arizona will play in Fort Worth against the Brahmas tomorrow night before returning to the Independence Event Center for their second match against the Mavericks on Tuesday.
