Quad City Mallards News Release
RAPID CITY, SD - Mickey Lang scored two goals- including the game winner- and added an assist as the Quad City Mallards came from behind with four unanswered third period goals to defeat the host Rapid City Rush 4-2 Friday night.
The Mallards trailed 2-0 until Bob Preece triggered the Quad City onslaught by scoring from the left wing circle at 7:15 of the third. At 9:54 Mike Stinziani finished off a give-and-go with Anthony Perdicaro to even the score at two. Then, at 11:26, Lang scored the second Mallard goal in a minute and 32 seconds and the third in four minutes and 11 seconds from the high slot to snap the deadlock. Lang capped off the victory by burying a feed from Matt Boyd- who had three assists- into an empty net in the final minute.
The Rush could have had little idea of how the evening would eventually turn against them when Scott Brannon's tip-in gave Rapid City a 1-0 lead at 5:01 of the first period. Kyle Peto's blue line blast stretched gap to two goals just 47 seconds into the third period, but from there the Mallards would take command.
The Mallards return to action in Rapid City tomorrow night at 8:05 p.m. The Mallards next play at home next Friday at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers. Next Friday night's game will also feature mascot Mo Mallard's Toast to the End of the World in recognition of the ancient Mayan prophecy predicting the end of days on December 21. In addition, in preparation for the end times, Mo will be clearing out his vast underground bunker and thus providing a wide variety of Mallards prizes old, new and in between that will be given away at that game.
Tickets for next Friday's game- as well as seats for all remaining Mallards regular season home games- can be purchased in person at the i wireless Center ticket office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. 2012-13 Mallards season tickets as well as the Mallards' new Partial Punch Plan are also still available. The Mallards offer ticket packages to meet any budget, including youth season tickets now available for as little at $165. The Partial Punch Plan provides flexibility and affordability- each Punch Plan punch card can be redeemed for ten tickets- whether those tickets are for ten different games, all for the same game or anything in between- subject to availability.
