January 5, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
TULSA, OK - The curse of the red jerseys is alive and well.
The Tulsa Oilers, who wear red sweaters on the road, lost their twelfth straight game away from home on Saturday night with a 6-3 setback at the hands of the Fort Worth Brahmas. The Oilers have lost 13 of their last 14 games and have dropped each of the last five meetings against Fort Worth.
Brahmas veteran Chad Woollard tapped in a pass from Adam Hogg to put the home side on the board first but Oilers forward Gary Steffes responded to tie the game at 1-1. John Snowden pushed the Brahmas back in front when his wrist shot beat Oilers goalie Shane Madolora at 8:21 of the first period.
Snowden blasted home his second of the night early in the third period to make it a 3-1 contest and the Brahmas never looked back.
In the third, Fort Worth picked up goals from Hogg, Woollard, and Calin Wild to make the score 6-1. Gary Steffes and Ryan Cramer picked up late tallies for the Oilers but the outcome had already been decided.
Daniel Amesbury, the Oilers heavyweight forward, dropped the gloves for the third time in the last two games when he battled Brahmas' forward Jake Morley at 7:43 of the third.
Tulsa, which mustered only nine shots in the first two periods, fired 13 on net in the final frame. Fort Worth goalie Brad Fogal picked up his ninth win of the season and improved to 4-0-1 against the Oilers.
The Oilers are now 0-19-2 when trailing after two periods. Tulsa returns to action on Friday, January 11 for a trip to Missouri and another attempt at ending the road losing streak.
