Kansas City Mavericks News Release
INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks announced Saturday the Central Hockey League (CHL) team has signed defenseman Jesse Perrin and waived defenseman Kyle Atkins. The Mavericks received the rights to Perrin as part of the future considerations in the trade that sent Brian Bicek and Matt McCready to the Arizona Sundogs in exchange for Kyle Hood and future considerations. This completes the trade and no further considerations are owed for this transaction.
"Jesse Perrin is an elite, stay-at-home defenseman who will significantly bolster our blue line," said Mavericks' President and General Manager Brent Thiessen "As we continue to build our roster for not only the present, but for a playoff push, we believe he will be a big asset to our organization."
Perrin, 25 (5/5/87), started this season with the ECHL's Evansville IceMen. In 17 games in the ECHL, the Crossfield, Alberta native had three assists and four penalty minutes. Prior to his time in the ECHL, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound defenseman played three seasons in the CHL with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees and most recently for the Arizona Sundogs. In three seasons in the CHL, Perrin totaled four goals, 23 assists and 102 penalty minutes in 149 games played.
Atkins played in 17 games with the Mavericks.
"Kyle came in and competed very hard, he shows a lot of promise," said Mavericks' Head Coach Scott Hillman. "We wish him the best and will continue to watch his progress."
