(EDMONTON, AB) - The Edmonton Oil Kings have unveiled the specialty jerseys they will wear for their third annual Star Wars Night when they host the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday, November 9 at 7:00 PM.

The jerseys are inspired by the classic character R2D2, and will be just one facet of many Star Wars themed engagements at Rogers Place during the game, including up to 30 characters from the iconic franchise mingling with fans, and a special light saber showdown in the first intermission.

"Our recent tradition of combining Star Wars Night with a themed jersey continues this year with an R2D2 uniform that ties the event together well," said Oil Kings Alternate Governor and Director of Business Operations, Daniel Troiani.

"It suits the Oil Kings branding, and our players are very excited to wear them on Saturday. It should be a great look on-ice for our fans."

As in past seasons, fans will have the chance to own a one-of-a-kind jersey by bidding via silent auction inside the gates at Ford Hall from the time doors to Rogers Place open (6:00 PM) until the end of the second intermission.

Troiani explains the silent auction is a win-win for both the avid Star Wars fan and/or jersey collector, but also the Greater Edmonton Community.

"The biggest win of the event will be donating the net proceeds of the jersey auction to a local community partner," Troiani said.

"We're looking forward to another great event at Rogers Place and an overall great family experience for our fans."

Fans are also reminded that Studio 99 will be open during Star Wars Night. Reservations open at 5:00 PM on Saturday and can be reserved through OpenTable.
