(Edmonton, AB) - The Edmonton Oil Kings made one pick earlier today at the 2023 CHL Import Draft, selecting forward Adam Jecho with the third-overall pick.

Jecho, 17, is a Zlin, Czechia product and spent this past season in Finland with Tappara U18 where he tallied 47 points (21G, 26A) in 37 games.

"We are excited to have selected Adam with the third-overall pick in the CHL Import Draft and are pleased to welcome him, and the entire Jecho family, to the Oil Kings organization," said Oil Kings President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kirt Hill. "Adam is a skilled two-way forward who will bring a high work ethic and size through the middle of the ice."

The 6-foot-3, 187-pound forward has represented Czechia on the international stage on several occasions including twice this past season. At the 2022 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in November, he had five points (2G, 3A) in six games and at the 2023 IIHF U18 World Championship in April, he recorded two assists in five games.

He has donned the Czechia jersey at both the 2022 and 2021 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup as an underaged player and is expected to do so once again next month at the tournament in Breclav, Czechia and Piestany, Slovakia.

"He has been one of the top Czechia players in his age group having played as an underage player at the Hlinka-Gretzky tournament twice and the World Under-18 Championships this past year," added Hill. "We are thrilled to be adding a player of this caliber to our lineup and will provide him with an environment to continue to develop his game leading into his NHL Draft year."

Jecho and second-year defenceman Vojtech Port, who was recently drafted by the Anaheim Ducks at the 2023 NHL Draft, will fill out the Oil Kings two import roster spots for the 2023-24 season.
