Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

Edmonton, AB.: The Edmonton Oil Kings are off on a 3 game road trip today. It may not seem like a long trip but, considering it starts tomorrow night in Cranbrook, BC and concludes in Saskatchewan, there will be a lot of miles put in.

"I am actually excited to get on the bus," says Head Coach Steve Pleau. "You become a family when you go on the road. Now we get to hop on the bus and bond and focus on hockey. That's going to be fun"

The Oil Kings will be looking for their first win of the season after a 4 - 2 setback on Opening Night against the Calgary Hitmen. Edmonton will play Wednesday night against the Kootenay Ice (1-1), who have had a strange start to the season. The Ice thumped the Lethbridge Hurricanes 8 - 1 at home last Friday, but were on the losing end of a 7 - 1 decision in Red Deer against the Rebels the next night. The Oil Kings head to the Prairies for the weekend where they will meet the Saskatoon Blades (1-0), Friday and Prince Albert Raiders (1-1), on Saturday. Both these Eastern Division teams are also in action tonight.

The Oil Kings return home to play Medicine Hat Wednesday, September 30 at 7:00 pm at Rexall Place. Wiener Wednesday returns with $2 hot dogs all night. The home stand is just two games and wraps up when Edmonton hosts the Moose Jaw Warrioirs Saturday, October 2nd. Tickets start at $15 and are available at oilkings.ca or by calling 414-GOAL.
