Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

Medicine Hat, AB- The Edmonton Oil Kings tried to finish off their weekend on Sunday night on winning note in Medicine Hat, but were in tough against the Medicine Hat Tigers, who were coming off a 3-2 shoot out win Saturday night against the Red Deer Rebels. In the sixth and final meeting between the two clubs, things did not go well for the struggling Oil Kings, who dropped the decision 5-2. Mike Piluso and T.J. Foster were the lone goal scorers for the Oil Kings.

The Oil Kings came out strong, out shooting the Tigers 13 to 8 in the opening frame but the Tigers managed to slip two goals past 17-year old starter Cam Lanigan.

Brett Cameron netted his 36th goal of the season 12 minutes into the period, with Joey Frazer finding the back of the net nine seconds later, on a two-on-one.

The second looked much the same. With Cameron Abney watching from the penalty box, defenseman Mark Isherwood walked in and made it 3-0. Minutes later the Tigers Matthew Konan ended Lanigans night early, putting Medicine hat up by 4.

Piluso cut the lead to 3 in the third period after he ripped a shot past Tigers goalie Tyler Bunz, making it 4-1. That didn't last long, as Emerson Etem scored for the Tigers on the power play, restoring their four-goal cushion. Just 33 seconds later, the red hot T.J Foster scored his 10th goal of the season, but it was too little, too late.

Up next for the Oil Kings is a date with the league leading Calgary Hitmen in the Oil Kings final home game of the season. It's a Sonic Wiener Wednesday, and for anyone with unused tickets, this is the final opportunity to cash in on the Oil Kings Never Waste a Ticket program. There are still great seats available through Ticketmaster, online at Oilkings.ca or by calling 780-414-GOAL.
