Blazers Sign Sterzer; Mowat Called Up

Kamloops, BC - Kamloops Blazers General Manager Craig Bonner has announced the signing of fifteen year old prospect Aspen Sterzer to a standard WHL contract. Sterzer, a forward from Canal Flats, BC, is playing Midget AAA for the Maroons at the prestigious EDGE school in Calgary.

"Aspen and his family came to Kamloops this past weekend and were very pleased and impressed with the city and the Blazers' facilities" states General Manager, Craig Bonner. "The Sterzer's have strong family values which have been passed on to Aspen. He has had a great season in Calgary showing that he competes hard every night and plays with passion and character."

Sterzer led his team in scoring this season with 22 goals and 38 points in 31 games played. His team, the EDGE Maroons, will play in a best of three semi-finals versus Peace River in the Rural Alberta Midget Hockey League (RAMHL) playoffs.

In other news, the hockey club has called up sixteen year old defensemen Max Mowat for the remainder of the season. Mowat, who played this season for the Okanagan Rockets of the BC Major Midget League, led all defenseman in scoring with 13 goals and 36 points in 40 games this season.

Mowat was originally listed by the Blazers in September 2008 after training camp. He has played one game with the Blazers this season back on October 30th versus the Chilliwack Bruins.
