
Oil Kings Explode in Second for 6-3 Victory

The Edmonton Oil Kings defeated the Kelowna Rockets 6-3 at Prospera Place in Kelowna on Wednesday night.
The Oil Kings scored five goals in the second period, three of them on the power play, to break open a close game. Edmonton, the first place team in the WHL's Eastern Conference, scored four power play goals in the game.
After holding off the Oil Kings for the first part of the first period, the Rockets took a 2-0 after the opening frame on two goals from Zach Franko. Franko scored on a penalty shot and then added a power play goal just 36 seconds later for the lead.
Franko would add the hat trick goal in the third period, giving him 11 on the season.
Tyler Maxwell scored twice for the Oil Kings while Michael St. Croix, Rhett Rachinski, Keegan Lowe and Henrik Samuelsson also scored for Edmonton.
After playing in Seattle on Tuesday and back home in Kelowna Wednesday, the Rockets now have a day off before hosting Calgary on Friday night and Red Deer on Saturday.
